The Silhouette

A silhouette walked on in the deep dungeons of her heart,

Oh!The bittersweet joy it brought to her eyes,

 The laughter,the love,the innocent abandon…

More incredible than one could ever surmise!

Away she knew she had to drive this shadow,

The eager, beautiful spring in the meadow…

Beckoned her with a loving gaze.

But the shadow that haunted her heart,

Left her in a daze!

Often she thought of the cool, clear spring

How it would wash away the shadowy scars…

And the boundless joy it would bring!

But alas!The silhouette reminded her,

Of the laughter and the tears,

Those carefree,vulnerable years.

It mocked her hopeful heart,

for risking itself only to be ripped apart!

So far away she ran, away from the

wonderful,welcoming spring.

And sat alone by the seashore,

Watching the raging sea roar…

For the silhouette still walked on in the deep dungeons of her heart,

filling her with a bittersweet joy.

From which she could not part!
